Peter Pan
To my good friend
With love from Captain Hook
Prince
Peter
Once upon a time, in a land far away, there lived a handsome prince. His name was Prince
Peter.
One day Prince Peter was walking through the woods near his castle in Neverland. It was a
bright autumn day and the sun was shining high up in the sky. Prince Peter was on his way to
see his friend Captain Hook.
He hadn't walked very far when he heard loud cries in the distance. The cries sounded
scared and upset. He could tell that they were coming from a town on the other side of the
wood. Prince Peter wanted to help so he ran as fast as his legs could carry him.
Prince Peter soon arrived at the town but could see no-one around. He ran to the main square,
where he was shocked to see the villagers gathered together covered in soot. All around him he
could see houses that had been burnt down.
In the middle of the square, Prince Peter found the Mayor, the most important person in the
town.
“What terrible thing has happened to you all?”
“The dragon has taken my daughter", cried the Mayor, “She’s going to be eaten for sure!"
Prince Peter sat down with the Mayor and listened to what he had to say.
“This morning,” the Mayor explained, “as we were getting ready for the feast, a terrifying dragon
flew over our heads and landed in the corner of the square. He breathed fire all over the
chairs and tables and our feast went up in smoke. We scattered in all directions to try and es-
cape, but the dragon chased us breathing out fire as he went. Soon our whole village was on
fire."
“He demanded food from us, but it had all gone, burnt to ashes by the dragon himself. He then
demanded that a child be brought to him to be taken to his home. We were too scared to
refuse.”
The Mayor’s daughter, Tinkerbell, was both beautiful and brave. On hearing the dragon’s de-
mand she thought only of her friends. She could not bear the thought of one of them being tak-
en, so she stepped forward.
“I will go with you”, she said.
The dragon was satisfied. The Mayor pleaded with the dragon to let her go but he would not
listen. The dragon tossed the girl on to his back and flew off into the sky.
“But that's terrible!" exclaimed Prince Peter, ‘I must find this dragon at once.’
